Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) lost 9-8 to Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the Final of the Victoria Curling Classic, held March 21 - 24, 2013 in Victoria, British Columbia. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 4-3 over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the semifinals of the 2013 Victoria Curling Classic in Victoria, British Columbia; and won 6-1 over Glenn Howard (Coldwater, ON) in the quarterfinals. of the 2013 Victoria Curling Classic in Victoria, British Columbia;

McEwen finished 3-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Neil Dangerfield (Victoria, BC) 8-6, then won 8-5 against Sweden's Oskar Eriksson. McEwen went on to lose 7-5 against Edin. McEwen responded with a 7-3 win over Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Victoria Curling Classic, McEwen take home 25.000 world rankings points along with the $14,000CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 7.1 after improving upon their best so far this season. McEwen ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 185.560 points earned so far this season.
