Birt finished 3-2 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birt lost 10-6 to Tanya Hilliard (Halifax, NS), then responded with a 5-3 win over Jocelyn Nix (Halifax, NS). Birt won 7-2 against Sarah Rhyno (Halifax, NS). Birt went on to lose 8-5 against Sandy Comeau (Moncton, NB). Birt responded with a 6-4 win over Kelly MacIntosh (Dartmouth, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
