Marie, ON). of the 2012 Canadian Open of Curling in Kelowna, British Columbia; McEwen advanced through the quarterfinals with a 4-1 win over Jeff Stoughton (winnipeg, MB). of the 2012 Canadian Open of Curling in Kelowna, British Columbia;
 
McEwen finished 4-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Mark Kean (Toronto, ON) 6-3, then went on to lose 5-3 against Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI). McEwen responded with a 7-4 win over Brent Pierce (New Westminster, BC). McEwen won 10-6 against Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB), then won 7-1 against John Morris (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
McEwen earned 22.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Canadian Open of Curling, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 387.110 total points. McEwen ranks 4th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 149.300 points earned so far this season.
