Adrian Meikle (Hawarden, WAL) finished 2-3 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Meikle lost 9-6 to Scotland's David Hay, then responded with a 8-1 win over Scotland's Alan Hannah. Meikle went on to lose 6-1 against Hammy McMillan (Stranraer, SCO). Meikle lost 9-4 to Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) where Meikle responded with a 6-4 win over England's Keith Wilson in their final qualifying round match.
