In their opening game, Busche defeated Dale Anderson (Grande Prairie, AB) 9-7, then won 7-6 against Bob Cooper (Fort St. John, BC) and 5-2 against Karen Powell (Grande Prairie, AB). Busche won 9-6 against Duncan Fraser (Grande Prairie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
