Lawton finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Lawton defeated Sidorova 8-7, then won 6-4 against Michele Jaeggi (Bern, SUI) and 7-5 against Muirhead. Lawton won 6-3 against Shannon Kleibrink (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
