Smith finished 3-0 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Alberta's Scott Villeneuve 5-4, then won 7-3 against Devin Burkitt (Hudson's Hope, BC) and 8-2 against Jeremy Harty (Nanton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
