McMakin finished 4-0 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McMakin defeated Eli Clawson (Laurel, MD) 14-4, then won 14-3 against Tyler Oliver (Philadelphia, PA) and 13-8 against Jeremy Unterborn (Rochester, NY). McMakin won 12-3 against Kent Suslavich (Bridgeport, CT) in their final qualifying round match.
