After advancing directly to the championship game, Kurtis Byrd (Thunder Bay, ON) lost 7-6 to Zach Warkentin (Thunder Bay, ON) in the Final of the Northern Ontario Jr. Men's Provincial, held January 3 - 6, 2013 in Kapuskasing, Ontario.
 
Byrd finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Byrd defeated Brennan Wark (Thunder Bay, ON) 6-5, then won 10-7 against Tanner Horgan (Sudbury, ON) and 7-1 against Warkentin. Byrd won 8-3 against Connor Lawes (North Bay, ON), then won 5-4 against Nick Dawson (Sault Ste. Marie, ON). Byrd went on to lose 6-2 against Jay Turner (Aitokan, ON). Byrd lost 11-7 to Cody Tetreault (Thessalon, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
