Shuttleworth went on to lose 7-5 against Smith. Shuttleworth responded with a 9-6 win over Susan Carothers (Fairbanks, AK). Shuttleworth won 14-2 against Karen Milne (Fairbanks, AK), then won 8-4 against Cynthia Smith (Denver, CO) in their final qualifying round match.
