Fowler finished 4-2 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Fowler defeated Kevin Marsh (Saskatoon, SK) 8-4, then went on to lose 6-2 against Martin. Fowler lost 7-4 to William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) where Fowler responded with a 7-2 win over Tom Appelman (Edmonton, AB). Fowler won 8-2 against Bruce Korte (Saskatoon, SK), then won 6-3 against Scott Manners (North Battleford, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Fowler earned 15.000 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Point Optical Curling Classic, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 21st place overall with 72.800 total points. Fowler ranks 20th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 15.000 points earned so far this season.
