In their opening game, Koe defeated Jack McDonald (Winnipeg, MB) 6-4, then won 6-4 against Rob Fowler (Brandon, MB) and 7-4 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). Koe won 5-0 against John Shuster (Duluth, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
