In their opening game, Gushue defeated David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO) 7-2, then won 6-4 against Kevin Martin (Edmonton, AB) and 7-1 against Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene, ON). Gushue went on to lose 9-6 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Gushue responded with a 8-4 win over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Gushue earned 25.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Players' Championship.
