Aku Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN) finished 3-4 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kauste lost 5-3 to Jiri Snitil (Prague, CZE), then responded with a 9-6 win over Alexey Timofeev (Moscow, RUS). Kauste went on to lose 8-4 against Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED). Kauste lost 10-9 to Rasmus Stjerne (Hvidovre, DEN) where Kauste responded with a 7-3 win over Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA). Kauste went on to lose 10-6 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). Kauste responded with a 8-4 win over Alexander Baumann (Hamburg, GER) in their final qualifying round match.

Kauste earned 5.132 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 18 of the event schedule, Kauste did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Kauste ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
