Mike Wenger (Biel, SUI) finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wenger defeated Daniel Herberg (Fuessen, GER) 7-3, then won 10-4 against Ursi Hegner (Uzwil, SUI) and 5-4 against Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Thompson Curling Challenge Championship title, Wenger earned 2.750 world rankings points along with the $3,650CDN first prize cheque, moving up 435 spots the World Ranking Standings into 192nd place overall with 2.750 total points. Wenger ranks 87th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.750 points earned so far this season.
