Event Information
We will be hosting a Men's Cashspiel here in Fort Wayne for up to 8-12 teams with a cash purse of $3K (perhaps more, depending on sponsorships). The guarantee will be for 4-5 games (pool format) + playoffs (with 4-6 teams qualifying) on a professionally prepared "SLAM quality" ice surface using Ontario's championship curling stones (25 second ice, 4 feet of curl expected). The event will run August 16-18. The Women's event is configured to be OOM (Order of Merit) point eligible, while the men's event will not achieve the Tour's criteria for OOM eligibility. We will have solid competition for teams that wish to get started early in the year on a great ice surface. You will most certainly enjoy our facility (including upstairs restaurant bar) and a great atmosphere, with up to 64 teams of all levels competing on our 3 indoor ice rinks (13 sheets of curling ice altogether). For your active participation (or entertainment) there is a NEW outdoor beach volleyball (+ indoor basketball/volleyball) facility, with bar, located right next door to our arena. It is an amazing facility that just opened about a month ago. Practice ice will be available on August 15th prior to play at no additional charge for 1 hour of ice time per team. Please book ahead of time. Entry fee will be $650 per team and 4 meals will be included (2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday), including steak dinner Saturday night. Most of the entry cost is used to cover ice rental, professional ice prep (by Ontario's Ice Team) + meals, hence the lower prize purse than may be the norm. The FWCC organizes the cashspiel for your training benefit and enjoyment, and for our club to "break-even". Thanks to the USCA for their support of our efforts and contribution toward professional ice preparation. Hotel booking information is located on our website under the summer bonspiel tab. Please call or book hotel rooms online ..... Do this as early as possible if you wish to stay at the TownePlace Suites, which is situated next to our ice facility. Both of our bonspiel hotels are excellent up-to-date facilities (Marriott TownePlace Suites or the Hyatt Place). Other options include the Country Inn and Suites or the Holiday Inn. We are a 5 hour drive from London, Ontario and about a 2.5 - 3 hour drive from Detroit and Chicago.
Event Purse: $3,000
Entry Fee: $650 USD
