To advance to the championship game, Buott won 5-3 over Chad Stevens (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2013 Dave Jones Molson Mayflower Cashspiel in Halifax, Nova Scotia; and won 5-3 over Jamie Newson (Charlottetown, PEI) in the quarterfinals.
 
Buott finished 3-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Buott defeated Tommy Sullivan (Halifax, NS) 7-5, then won 10-3 against Dacey. Buott went on to lose 7-3 against Matt Paul (Ottawa, ON). Buott responded with a 6-1 win over Kent Smith (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Dave Jones Molson Mayflower Cashspiel Championship title, Buott earned 4.250 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 186 spots the World Ranking Standings into 169th place overall with 4.438 total points.
