In their opening game, Gulbis lost 7-2 to David Edwards (Aberdeen, SCO), then responded with a 10-2 win over Ross McCleary (Kinross, SCO). Gulbis went on to lose 6-4 against Markus Hoiberg (Oppdal, NOR). Gulbis lost 7-6 to David Sik (Prague, CZE) where Gulbis responded with a 4-1 win over Kyle Smith (Perth, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
