Markus Hoiberg (Oppdal, NOR) needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, Hoiberg finished 5-4 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hoiberg lost
7-4 to Christopher Plys (St. Paul, USA), droppimg another game, 6-1 to Kyle Smith (Perth, UK). Hoiberg lost 10-4 to Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, CAN) where Hoiberg responded with a 8-4 win over Mario Freiberger (Zug, SUI). Hoiberg won 10-4 against Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE), then won 8-5 against Italy's Marco Pascale and 5-4 against Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR). Hoiberg went on to lose 8-2 against Oskar Eriksson (Lit, SWE). Hoiberg responded with a 10-4 win over Xiuyue Ma (Harbin, CHN) in their final qualifying round match.
