In their opening game, Vavrek defeated Aiden Procter (Edmonton, AB) 6-4, then won 7-4 against Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB) and 7-1 against Scott Smith (Calgary, AB). Vavrek went on to lose 7-5 against Scoffin. Vavrek lost 4-1 to Kenton Maschmeyer (Edmonton, AB) where Vavrek responded with a 9-5 win over Dustin Turcotte (Falher, AB). Vavrek went on to lose 7-6 against Carter Lautner (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
