In their opening game, McEwen defeated David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO) 10-3, then won 4-3 against Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) and 6-3 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI). McEwen went on to lose 5-3 against John Morris (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
