Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) won 5-4 over John Epping (Toronto, ON) in the Final of the Point Optical Curling Classic, held September 26 - 29, 2014 at the Nutana Curling Club in Saskatoon, Canada. To advance to the championship game, McEwen won 6-0 over Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) in the semifinals of the 2014 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; and won 5-3 over Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2014 Point Optical Curling Classic in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada;
 
McEwen finished 3-0 in the 26-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McEwen defeated Brady Clark (Seattle, WA) 7-1, then won 6-4 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) and 8-4 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Point Optical Curling Classic Championship title, McEwen earned 40.000 world rankings points along with the $11,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 267.410 total points. McEwen ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 70.000 points earned so far this season.
