Casey finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Casey lost 8-2 to Howard, then responded with a 6-5 win over Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI). Casey won 6-3 against Don Bowser (Kingston, ON), then won 6-4 against Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) and 6-5 against Denis Cordick (North Halton, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
