Wimmer finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Wimmer defeated Bill Irwin (Barrie, ON) 7-6, then won 9-4 against Don Cahoon (Stroud, ON) and 9-2 against John Bell (Unionville, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the COMCO Cash Spiel Championship title, Wimmer earned 2.500 world rankings points along with the $3,600CDN first prize cheque, moving up 21 spots the World Ranking Standings into 107th place overall with 10.426 total points. Wimmer ranks 126th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.500 points earned so far this season.
