Baier finished 5-2 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Baier defeated Glen Jackson (Victoria, BC) 5-2, then went on to lose 7-5 against Sean Geall (New Westminster, BC). Baier responded with a 7-0 win over Geoff Davis (Victoria, BC). Baier won 6-5 against Wes Craig (Victoria, BC). Baier went on to lose 4-3 against Brent Pierce (Kelowna , BC). Baier responded with a 8-4 win over Jason Montgomery (Victoria, BC). Baier won 7-5 against Craig in their final qualifying round match.
 
Baier earned 1.250 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Vancouver Island Shootout, moving up 14 spots the World Ranking Standings into 171st place overall with 5.121 total points. Baier ranks 131st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.500 points earned so far this season.
