Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) won 4-2 over Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) in the Final of the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic, held October 10 - 13, 2014 at the Crestwood Curling Club in Edmonton, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Koe won 5-3 over Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB) in the semifinals of the 2014 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and won 9-7 over Kevin Marsh (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals.
Koe finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Koe defeated Thomas Usselman (Calgary, AB) 7-2, then won 7-4 against Robert Schlender (Edmonton, AB) and 6-5 against Sluchinski in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic Championship title, Koe earned 17.050 world rankings points along with the $12,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 6th place overall with 173.375 total points. Koe ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 32.050 points earned so far this season.
