Schlender finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Schlender lost 7-2 to Daylan Vavrek (Sexsmith, AB), then responded with a 6-3 win over Curtis Harrish (Calmar, AB). Schlender won 7-5 against Warren Cross (Edmonton, AB), then won 6-3 against James Pahl (Sherwood Park, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
