Smith finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated England's Bryan Zachary 9-3, then won 5-2 against David Murdoch (Stirling, SCO) and 11-1 against Graham Sloan (Dumfries, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Dumfries Curling Challenge, Smith take home 5.040 world rankings points along with the $2,719CDN prize, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 50th place overall with 34.698 total points. Smith ranks 95th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.465 points earned so far this season.
