Bottcher finished 4-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bottcher defeated Sherrard 8-6, then went on to lose 6-3 against Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI). Bottcher responded with a 6-5 win over Kurt Balderston (Grande Prairie, AB). Bottcher won 7-2 against Tom Sallows (Grande Prarie, AB), then won 7-2 against Jeff Stoughton (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

Bottcher earned 9.800 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Pomeroy Inn & Suites Prairie Showdown. Bottcher move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 4.825 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 17th overall with 136.019 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
