McDonald finished 2-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, McDonald lost 7-2 to Janet Harvey (Winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 7-4 win over Joelle Brown (Winnipeg, MB). McDonald won 9-1 against Jennifer Clark-Rouire (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Granite Ladies Cash Spiel Championship title, McDonald earned 9.500 world rankings points along with the $1,500CDN first prize cheque.
