Puustinen won 8-3 against Juhasz, then won 11-2 against Oksanen and 12-0 against Norri. Puustinen won 10-4 against Kauste, then won 14-4 against Wickstrom and 10-5 against Hellsten. Puustinen won 6-4 against Norri, then won 7-5 against Hellsten and 7-4 against Malmi. Puustinen won 7-1 against Norri. Puustinen went on to lose 6-5 against Hellsten. Puustinen responded with a 11-2 win over Malmi in their final qualifying round match.
