Funk lost 8-2 to Paul Pustovar (Hibbing, MN) where Funk responded with a 6-4 win over David Cornfield (Seattle, WA). Funk won 6-5 against Tony Berarducci (Hibbing, MN). Funk went on to lose 11-2 against Seppo Sormunen (Duluth, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
