Carruthers won 8-5 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL), then won 11-3 against Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT). Carruthers went on to lose 7-2 against Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT). Carruthers lost 7-4 to Jean-Michel Menard (Gatineau, QC) where Carruthers responded with a 8-3 win over Jim Cotter (Vernon/Kelowna, BC). Carruthers went on to lose 8-7 against Mark Kean (Fenelon Falls, ON). Carruthers lost 8-7 to Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Carruthers lost 5-2 to Adam Casey (Charlottetown, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.

Carruthers earned 8.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 11th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 3 after improving upon their best so far this season. Carruthers ranks 5th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 142.230 points earned so far this season.
