Simmons finished 7-4 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Simmons defeated Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) 6-4, then went on to lose 9-7 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL). Simmons lost 7-4 to Adam Casey (Charlottetown, PEI) where Simmons responded with a 6-5 win over Jeremy Mallais (Saint John, NB). Simmons went on to lose 8-4 against Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK). Simmons responded with a 6-3 win over Jamie Koe (Yellowknife, NT). Simmons won 6-3 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB), then won 8-7 against Jim Cotter (Vernon/Kelowna, BC) and 8-4 against Mark Kean (Fenelon Falls, ON). Simmons won 7-5 against Jean-Michel Menard (Gatineau, QC). Simmons went on to lose 7-3 against Jacobs in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Tim Hortons Brier Championship title, Simmons earned 45.000 world rankings points, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 5th place overall with 271.195 total points. Simmons ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 78.000 points earned so far this season.
