Shinya Abe (Sapporo, JPN) lost 7-3 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the Final of the Japan Curling Championships, held February 9 - 14, 2015 in Karuizawa, Japan.
 
Abe finished 7-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abe defeated Japan's Ryo Ogihara 11-6, then won 10-6 against Morozumi and 11-4 against Kouji Tsuruga (Kitami, JPN). Abe won 10-2 against Hironori Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN), then won 7-2 against Kazuto Funaki (Aomori, JPN) and 10-7 against Naoki Iwanaga (Tokyo, JPN). Abe went on to lose 6-5 against Ryuji Shibatani (Kitami, JPN). Abe responded with a 10-9 win over Japan's Doi Homaretoru in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Japan Curling Championships, Abe take home 2.500 world rankings points, moving up 50 spots the World Ranking Standings into 194th place overall with 5.500 total points. Abe ranks 138th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 5.500 points earned so far this season.
