Tsuruga won 8-3 against Japan's Ryo Ogihara. Tsuruga went on to lose 6-5 against Hironori Yoshioka (Okayama, JPN). Tsuruga responded with a 6-5 win over Ryuji Shibatani (Kitami, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Tsuruga earned 2.000 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Japan Curling Championships, moving up 366 spots the World Ranking Standings into 280th place overall with 2.000 total points. Tsuruga ranks 224th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.000 points earned so far this season.
