Mari Motohashi (Aomori, JPN) lost 8-5 to Ayumi Ogasawara (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the Japan Curling Championships, held February 9 - 14, 2015 in Karuizawa, Japan.
 
Motohashi finished 7-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Motohashi defeated Masami Fujii (Nayaro, JPN) 12-5, then won 12-2 against Touka Furuta (Kitami, JPN) and 14-3 against Natsuki Saitou (Aomori, JPN). Motohashi won 9-0 against Emi Sato (Kyoto, JPN), then won 11-5 against Japan's Rina Ida and 7-2 against Ogasawara. Motohashi went on to lose 9-5 against Touri Koana (Yamanashi, JPN). Motohashi responded with a 6-3 win over Satsuki Fujisawa (Nagano, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Japan Curling Championships, Motohashi take home 3.250 world rankings points, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 51st place overall with 27.341 total points. Motohashi ranks 44th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 19.000 points earned so far this season.
