Kauste went on to lose 6-5 against Pat Simmons (Calgary, CAN). Kauste responded with a 7-5 win over Joel Retornaz (Cortina d'Ampezzo, ITA) in their final qualifying round match.

Kauste earned 20.000 world rankings points for their Top 4 finish in the World Men's Curling Championship, moving up 40 spots the World Ranking Standings into 42nd place overall with 43.607 total points.
