Zang went on to lose 9-5 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Zang lost 7-4 to Marc Pfister (Bern, SUI) where Zang responded with a 8-7 win over Jiri Snitil (Prague, CZE). Zang went on to lose 9-5 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA). Zang responded with a 8-3 win over Evgeniy Arkhipov (Moscow, RUS). Zang went on to lose 8-7 against Aku Kauste (Helsinki, FIN). Zang responded with a 10-3 win over Ewan MacDonald (Perth, SCO). Zang went on to lose 7-6 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Zang earned 8.000 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Zang move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 6.125 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 23rd overall with 89.230 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Zang ranks 28th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 43.299 points earned so far this season.
