In their opening game, Ulsrud defeated Ian Parker (Sarnia, ON) 9-4, then won 6-2 against Stuart Taylor (Glasgow, SCO) and 9-7 against Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI). Ulsrud won 5-1 against Tomi Rantamaki (Hyvinkaa, FIN) in their final qualifying round match.
