Gushue finished 3-1 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Steve Laycock (Saskatoon, SK) 8-5, then went on to lose 9-6 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB). Gushue responded with a 7-3 win over Jean-Michel Menard (Quebec, QC). Gushue won 4-2 against Ulsrud in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the The National Championship title, Gushue earned 83.247 world rankings points along with the $24,500CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 813.286 total points. Gushue ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 431.386 points earned so far this season.
