Simmons responded with a 12-1 win over Naomasa Takeda (Nayoro, JPN). Simmons won 10-0 against Kosuke Hirata (Kitami, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Karuizawa International, Simmons take home 23.177 world rankings points along with the $6,912CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 11th place overall with 329.371 total points.
