Carey went on to lose 8-3 against Sweeting. Carey responded with a 9-7 win over Jessie Kaufman (Edmonton, AB). Carey won 5-4 against Shannon Kleibrink (Coaldale, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Jiffy Lube Alberta Scotties Championship title, Carey earned 27.195 world rankings points.
