Sven Michel (Adelboden, SUI) finished 4-7 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Michel defeated Alexander Baumann (Fuessen, GER) 8-2, then went on to lose 9-5 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Michel lost 9-6 to Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) where Michel responded with a 12-4 win over SooHyuk Kim (Gangwon, KOR). Michel went on to lose 12-6 against Aku Kauste (Hyvinkaa, FIN). Michel lost 9-7 to John Shuster (Duluth, USA) where Michel responded with a 5-4 win over Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO). Michel went on to lose 7-6 against Rasmus Stjerne (Hvidovre, DEN). Michel responded with a 6-3 win over Alexey Tselousov (Moscow, RUS). Michel went on to lose 7-4 against Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). Michel lost 8-2 to Kevin Koe (Calgary, CAN) in their final qualifying round match.

Michel earned 10.574 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 34 of the event schedule, Michel did not improve upon their best events, remaining at 16th place on the World Ranking Standings with 305.298 total points. Michel ranks 17th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 177.926 points earned so far this season.
