Balsdon finished 3-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Balsdon defeated Willie Jeffries (Ottawa, ON) 7-2, then won 7-2 against Mathieu Beaufort (Sorel-Tracy, QC) and 6-2 against Robert Desjardins (Saguenay, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Challenge Casino de Charlevoix Championship title, Balsdon earned 26.918 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 24th place overall with 168.158 total points.
