Murdoch finished 2-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Murdoch defeated Eirik Mjoen (Oslo, NOR) 6-1, then won 6-4 against Gustav Eskilsson (Skellefteï¿½, SWE). Murdoch went on to lose 6-3 against Kim in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the German Masters Championship title, Murdoch earned 36.586 world rankings points along with the $9,184CDN first prize cheque.
