Jim Cotter (Vernon, BC) lost 9-3 to Alberta's Pat Simmons in the Final of the Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic, held January 22 - 24, 2016 at the Coyotes Curling Club in Tempe, United States. To advance to the championship game, Cotter won 6-2 over Manitoba's Mike McEwen in the semifinals of the 2016 Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic in Tempe, Arizona, United States; and won 6-0 over Manitoba's William Lyburn in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic in Tempe, Arizona, United States;
 
Cotter finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Cotter defeated Manitoba's Richard Muntain 6-2, then won 7-4 against Darryl Sobering (Denver, CO) and 7-2 against Craig Brown (Blaine, USA). Cotter won 4-3 against John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic, Cotter take home 32.557 world rankings points along with the $4,931CDN prize. For week 23 of the event schedule, Cotter did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Cotter ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
