To advance to the championship game, Alberta's Pat Simmons won 8-3 over Charley Thomas (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2016 Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic in Tempe, Arizona, United States; and won 5-3 over John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in the quarterfinals. of the 2016 Ed Werenich Golden Wrench Classic in Tempe, Arizona, United States;
 
Alberta's Pat Simmons finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Alberta's Pat Simmons defeated Carroll Huntress (Tempe, AZ) 12-1, then won 8-2 against Pete Fenson (Blaine, USA) and 5-3 against Minnesota's Todd Birr. Alberta's Pat Simmons won 5-1 against Thomas in their final qualifying round match.
