Hawes/Tardi finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hawes/Tardi defeated Anne Shibuya/Marcio Cerquinho (Belo Horizonte, BRZ) 11-2, then won 7-5 against Cristin Clark/Brady Clark (Seattle, WA) and 10-8 against Lisa Menard/Ray Baker (Dauphin, MB). Hawes/Tardi went on to lose 8-7 against Tabitha Peterson/Joe Polo (Blaine, MN). Hawes/Tardi responded with a 7-4 win over Taylor Anderson/Thomas Howell (Blaine, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
