Balderston finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Balderston defeated Roland Robinson (Edmonton, AB) 7-3, then won 6-0 against Warren Cross (Edmonton, AB) and 6-2 against Kevin Hrab (Fort St. John, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Dawson Creek Cash Spiel Championship title, Balderston earned 10.500 world rankings points along with the $2,500CDN first prize cheque, moving up 82 spots the World Ranking Standings into 163rd place overall with 16.013 total points. Balderston ranks 149th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 10.500 points earned so far this season.
